West Edmonton Mall

North America’s largest indoor shopping mall and entertainment complex is located in Edmonton and it truly has it all. You can spend hours shopping here without getting bored, with a mix of major brands and smaller local boutiques. Even if shopping isn’t your thing, a visit to West Edmonton Mall is an absolute must. With an indoor amusement park, a subtropical water park, a cinema, an ice rink, hotels and much more, West Edmonton Mall offers something for everyone. In 2019, a number of new stores opened, including UNIQLO, Louis Vuitton, Canada Goose and SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker. Tip: the West Edmonton Mall is a convenient stop on the way to Jasper National Park, or on the return journey.

 

 

Premium Outlet Collection Mall

This brand-new shopping centre is Edmonton’s only outlet mall. You can easily spend a whole day here, with more than a hundred major and smaller brands offering their products at reduced prices. The outlet is conveniently located, less than a four-minute drive from Edmonton International Airport. Shop till you drop!

 

Ice District & 104th Street Promenade

If you’re looking for a place where you can find everything in one area, ICE District is the place to be. The district is home to numerous shops, Rogers Place, where the ice hockey teams Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Oil Kings play, and where concerts by top artists are held on a regular basis. You’ll also find a casino and other upscale nightlife venues here. Stroll along 4th Street Promenade, where you’ll find local shops, restaurants and great photo backdrops, including the Neon Sign Museum. In short, for a night of entertainment, the ICE District is the place to be.

 

 

The Citadel Theatre

When the lights dim and the heavy red curtains swing open, you can expect an evening of laughter, excitement, raw emotion and pure entertainment. The Citadel Theatre, a five-theater multipurpose complex in the Downtown Arts District, is Canada’s largest regional theater center.

Visit a hockey game

Starting your winter vacation in style and spectacular? Attend an ice hockey game of the Edmonton Oilers! Make sure you get your tickets in time, because this is one Canadian party you don’t want to miss. The Edmonton Oilers play home games at the state-of-the-art Rogers Place, which opened its doors to the public in 2016. The stadium is a sight in itself. The junior ice hockey team, the Edmonton Oil Kings, also play games at Rogers Place stadium, so chances are you can catch a game when you are in Edmonton!

An evening of comedy

Edmonton also has a lot to offer when it comes to comedy. For example, you can come see Rapid Fire Theatre ‘s improvised comedy shows. On Friday night, you can enjoy TheatreSports where two teams compete against each other for the best jokes. Or come to CHiMPROV on Saturday night and watch global comedy crews take the stage to perform the funniest improvised jokes. For both shows, tickets cost about $14/ €10.

Grindstone Theatre is another theatre well worth a visit. In addition to comedy shows, the venue also hosts festivals and has its own restaurant.

Old Strathcona & Whyte Avenue

The bohemian Whyte Avenue is located in the hip and trendy neighbourhood of Old Strathcona. The neighbourhood is known for the many forms of art and culture you’ll find here. You’ll also find plenty of local boutiques, unique art galleries and record shops, as well as trendy restaurants and cafés. In short, it’s a great street for shopping and dining on a winter afternoon.
