In the mountains surrounding Jasper is Marmot Basin, the ski area known for its dry, light powder snow. Thanks to the subarctic climate – cold, sunny and with little moisture – the snow here remains exceptionally good. From October through May, you can count on thick snow and excellent conditions.

This modern ski elevator will take you to 2,518 feet in less than eight minutes, where you’ll have direct access to the challenging run The Cirque and panoramic views of the Rockies. The elevator replaces the old chairlift and now makes the highest part of the ski area more accessible than ever.

Marmot Basin is the ski area for those who love silence, space and nature. Here you ski in the middle of Jasper National Park, surrounded by rugged peaks and endless pine forests. It is remarkably quiet – no long queues, no crowded slopes. Once you’re down, you can usually get right back on the elevator.
There is also plenty to explore off-piste. The slopes are full of fresh snow, often untouched. The dry air in the Rockies ensures that Canada’s famous powder snow stays light and powdery for days on end. Perfect for those who like to glide smoothly and effortlessly through the snow.
